who
we are

Founded in 1938 by sociologist Jean Stoetzel, Ifop pioneered the survey method and was the first to conduct public opinion polls in France. Over the years, Ifop has expanded across Europe, the United States, and China, establishing itself as a specialist in understanding consumers and citizens. Today, it is a multi-expertise group that includes Sociovision, Occurrence, Deep Opinion, and Brain Value. Driven by the conviction that people are the force behind change, and fueled by a passion for human insights, a culture of expertise, a commitment to objectivity, and an investigative spirit, the Ifop group has set itself the mission of connecting with people. By deciphering their expectations, attitudes, and behaviors, Ifop supports its clients in a holistic way, helping them identify the levers to create value and pave the way to a positive future.

Our responsible commitment

Ifop, a Responsible Group

Ifop has been one of the very first research institutes to address sustainable development issues for institutions and brands, launching the Sustainable Development Observatory in 2002. Since then, we have been actively contributing to raising awareness among companies and institutions about sustainable development, which is now an integral part of both our internal and external policies.

ENVIRONMENT

Although Ifop provides only intellectual services, we strive to minimize the environmental impact of our activities, notably through:

  • The default digitization of all documents and materials (proposals, questionnaires, reports) produced in the course of studies and communications with our clients
  • A partnership with the company Les Joyeux Recycleurs, which enables the recycling of our waste through collection boxes placed throughout the organization. For every kilo collected, Les Joyeux Recycleurs contributes to funding Ares Atelier, an organization dedicated to helping people in difficulty reintegrate into society.

Social Commitment

The Ifop Group is deeply committed to promoting diversity, gender pay equality, and supporting individuals facing exclusion or disabilities. Here’s how we act on this commitment:

  • Since 2010, we have been signatories of the Diversity Charter, which promotes social cohesion and equity.
  • Since 2009, we have partnered with the association “Nos Quartiers Ont des Talents“, where volunteer executives from our company mentor young graduates from underprivileged neighborhoods who are seeking employment.
  • Ifop scored 88 out of 100 on the Gender Equality Index in 2023. This index measures companies’ efforts toward gender pay equality and aligns with the “Professional Future” Law of September 5, 2018, aimed at eliminating pay disparities over time.

PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

Ifop adheres to the ESOMAR Code for market and opinion research and favors international partnerships with ESOMAR member companies. This code particularly sets standards for protecting:

  • Survey respondents
  • The confidentiality of collected data
  • Children or young populations who may be involved in our studies

The Ifop Horizons Team, established in 2020, champions the Group’s CSR project. This diverse team comprises eight active members with a wide range of ages, levels of seniority, hierarchical positions, and expertise within the company.

OUR COMMITMENT TO PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Ifop reaffirmed its commitment to personal data processing through a series of measures that include:

  • The appointment of a Data Protection Officer and the establishment of an internal team dedicated to ensuring Ifop’s commitments are upheld, raising operational teams’ awareness of best practices, and conducting internal audits.
  • A commitment to reduce the impact of personal data collection by limiting it strictly to the elements necessary for the study’s objectives and ensuring data is not used in ways incompatible with those objectives.
  • Implementation of procedures to guarantee the anonymity of participants in studies conducted by Ifop.
  • Obtaining the free, specific, and informed consent of all participants whose personal data is collected and ensuring that the purpose and method of collection are clearly communicated to them.
  • Ensuring that personal data is not retained longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed.
  • Establishing procedures to respond to requests from participants exercising their rights regarding the personal data collected directly by Ifop.
  • Implementing security protocols to manage risks, as outlined in an Ifop technical protocol, which includes the use of encrypted and secure messaging for any transmission or receipt of personal data files.

Ifop also commits to collaborating exclusively with external parties (subcontractors or other suppliers) who comply with data protection directives and regulations, including signing contracts that mandate these standards.
